My name’s Kev and I’m an English teacher from the UK. Recently, I’ve been living in Poland and now am making the move to a very different city, where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic, where the Southern European fire is tempered by the sorrowful soul of ‘Fado’ and where the echoes of the Moorish empire still nestle in alongside the splendour of the age of exploration.
In this blog I will recount the cultural foibles and differences that add humour, intrigue, fun and anguish (hopefully not too much anguish) to my life here, as well as a look at some of the more interesting sites to visit in this ancient city.
If you’re planning a visit and want some advice, or simply to chew the fat over a beer in the city, do get in touch.
Tchau!
Kev

I guess that Lisbon pictures are really wonderful in nature, climate and people. My aunt Fina was born in Lisbon and she always told me about the paceful life you can enjoy living there. Thanks for this posting!

It is really a peaceful place, in spite of the huge number of people here and the bustling roads, etc. I hope you’ll continue to drop by and see more of it. 😉

Hi Kev,
I am a television producer working on the US travel show ‘House Hunters International’. We are looking for English speaking expats who have recently moved to Portugal to feature on our show. I wonder if you might like to share your story?
House Hunters International is a half-hour TV show currently airing on the Home and Garden Television Network (HGTV) in America. The series is designed to de-mystify the international home-buying / renting process, by going behind the scenes of a house hunt where expats and their real estate agents tour 3 homes. At its core, House Hunters International is a travel show concentrating on the idiosyncrasies of the locales and what makes them special and different.
Here is a link to show you what our show is all about!

We would love to film in Lisbon again so please get in touch if you or any of your contacts might be interested in finding out more!
Best wishes,
Michelle

Hi Simone!
Thanks for taking a look.
I’m an English teacher, for a job. It doesn’t pay megabucks, but it’s enough to live here pretty well.
You should come see the curry for yourself.
I’d be happy to show you around a bit!

Hi Kev
I just moved to Lisbon for work. Any chance I could buy you a beer and find out a bit about the city from you? Enjoyed reading the blog. At the moment my main challenge is on working out how to find an apartment and where I should even begin to look.
Warm regards
Richard

Hey Kev!
I work for the website ExpatFocus.com and recently included your blog in an article I wrote recommending expat blogs for our readers moving to or living in Portugal (the article is online at http://www.expatfocus.com/c/aid=2806/articles/portugal/portugal—recommended-blogs/).
In addition to letting you know about the above I also thought you might be interested in completing one of our short “expat experience” interviews (by email) for publication at the site (previous examples can be found at http://www.expatfocus.com/expat-experiences-latest). These are a great way of introducing yourself to our membership and in addition to promoting them via the usual social media channels of Twitter, Facebook etc. we also include them in our monthly email newsletter. If the above sounds of interest please let me know and I’ll be very happy to send the questions through.
Kind regards,
Emma
